Adding versus replacing
Where it goes decides the job.
Replacing an existing outlet is quick. Adding one somewhere new means getting a cable there — through a wall cavity, a roof space, or along a wall in conduit — and that distance is what the price actually reflects.
Doing several at once is far better value than one at a time, because most of the work is access rather than the outlet itself.

Extension leads
A double adaptor is not a wiring plan.
Piggy-backed adaptors and leads run under rugs are how houses cope with too few outlets, and they are a real fire risk rather than a theoretical one.
If a room has one outlet doing the work of four, adding proper points is cheaper than most people assume.
