Why it matters
Unlicensed electrical work is not a saving.
Electrical work in Queensland has to be done by a licensed electrical contractor. Work that is not can void your home insurance, fail at the worst moment, and has to be pulled out and done again before anything can be signed off.
Ask any electrician for their licence before they start. A real one will hand it over without blinking.
Air conditioning
Refrigerant is a licensed job of its own.
Split-system work involves handling refrigerant, which needs an ARC refrigerant handling licence on top of the electrical licence. It covers installing, decommissioning, degassing and disposing of systems properly.
It is the reason an old system cannot simply be cut off the wall and put in a skip.
