Under a patio is not the same as an open wall.
A sheltered outlet under a covered patio and one on a west-facing wall taking driving rain and full afternoon sun are different specifications, even though they look similar in a catalogue.
Getting it wrong shows up as a corroded, sticking cover a couple of summers later — and eventually as a fault.

Water is the whole reason safety switches exist.
Outdoor circuits are exactly where a fault is most likely to find a path through a person — wet ground, bare feet, a garden tool with a damaged lead.
Every outdoor circuit we install is protected accordingly, and if the existing board cannot do that, we will say so.
