When you get one
The scan comes with paid work. Book a job — a powerpoint, a fan, a smoke alarm install, anything — and the scan happens while we are there.
It is not available as a standalone free appointment. That is deliberate: it is a value-add on a job rather than a way to get a free callout, and we would rather say so plainly than have you find out when you ring.
The three things we look at
It takes the time it takes — usually a matter of minutes on top of the job we came for, not an afternoon.
What it is not
It is a practical visual once-over. It is not a comprehensive whole-property electrical audit, it is not hours of testing, and the smoke alarm part is not a complete integrity test of every alarm.
It also depends on reasonable access. Areas that cannot be reasonably inspected do not get inspected, and we will tell you if that is the case rather than quietly leaving it out.
Anyone offering a full electrical inspection for free is describing something other than what this is.
What happens with what we find
You get told. If something needs attention, you get the options and what each would cost, and then you decide — including deciding to do nothing, which is a perfectly reasonable outcome and a common one.
This is the complete-options approach rather than a sales process. Our view is that you should know what is going on in your own house even if you are not going to act on it today.
